Not every engagement session comes with unlimited time — and honestly, that can be a gift.
Chelsea and Julian live out of state and were planning their wedding through Zoom calls and quick trips home to tackle the to-do list. This particular visit brought them back to Pennsylvania for their co-ed bridal shower in Folino Estate’s Barrel Room — and a small window of time before guests arrived that we used for their engagement session. With being their Pennsylvania engagement photographer, and only seeing them on screen, I was over the moon about meeting them in person!
With about fifteen minutes together, the goal wasn’t perfection or a long checklist of poses. It was simply to slow things down, get comfortable together, and capture them as they are — relaxed, connected, and very much in this season of planning life from afar.
Why Folino Estate Winery Is a Beautiful Setting for Engagement Photos
Folino Estate Winery sits just outside Kutztown, Pennsylvania, surrounded by rolling vineyards, stone architecture, and thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces that feel both refined and welcoming.

Folino Estate was named Winery of the Year for 2025 and received both The Knot Best of Weddings 2025 and the WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Award 2025 — recognitions that reflect not only the beauty of the property, but the experience couples have there. I can personally vouch for them… they deserve every award they have earned.
A Short Engagement Session at Folino Estate Winery
The day itself was bright, humid, and overcast — the kind of weather that softens the light and makes it easy to wander without feeling rushed. We walked through the vineyard space, spent time near Folino’s iconic rustic pickup truck filled with wine barrels and flowers, and explored the wine garden area surrounding the estate.

What stood out most was how quickly their nerves turned into laughter. Within minutes, the pressure melted away, and what remained was ease — the kind that shows up when people feel comfortable being themselves.

Why Engagement Sessions Matter Before the Wedding Day
Engagement sessions aren’t just about photos — they’re about learning how you move together, what makes you laugh, and how I can gently guide you in a way that feels natural instead of posed.
By the time the wedding day arrives, we’re already one step ahead. It feels easier, more familiar, and far less stressful — which allows couples to stay present and enjoy the day.
Looking Ahead to Their Folino Estate Wedding
Chelsea and Julian’s engagement session may have been brief, but it captured something important — a calm pause in the middle of a busy planning season.
A few months later, they would return to Pennsylvania to celebrate their wedding day. If this short evening at Folino Estate was any indication, their wedding was sure to be thoughtful and deeply meaningful.
