Not every wedding day looks the same — and Rebecca and Ken’s October wedding at Ridgeland Mansion in Fairmount Park is a great reminder of that! Their celebration was intentionally focused on the two of them, thoughtfully planned, and full of moments that felt personal, surprising, and completely their own.
From the beginning, this wedding wasn’t about tradition for tradition’s sake or filling the day with extras. Rebecca and Ken knew what mattered to them, and they shaped their wedding around that — keeping things simple, well-paced, and centered on the experience they wanted to have together.
Getting Ready at Ridgeland Mansion

Rebecca got ready inside Ridgeland Mansion, where the bright interior spaces and natural light created a calm, unfussy start to the day. The morning wasn’t packed with layers of details or distractions — it was about getting ready, feeling confident, and stepping into the day with intention. That simplicity set the tone and allowed the focus to stay exactly where it belonged.

Ken spent much of the morning with his constant companion, Monty — their tuxedo-wearing ring bearer and, without question, one of the most important presences of the day. Watching Ken read through his vows with Monty close by was grounding and genuine, a quiet moment that reflected how much comfort and familiarity that dog brings him. It was understated, meaningful, and very much them.
A Rainy Day Ceremony at Ridgeland Mansion
Their ceremony took place beneath a tent by Open Aire Affairs, set on the grounds of Ridgeland Mansion as rain fell steadily around them. And just to be clear — it rained. A lot. Like, umbrellas-didn’t-stand-a-chance kind of rain — but the day rolled on and the celebration didn’t slow down!

The tent created a defined, welcoming space that allowed everything to move forward comfortably while keeping guests protected from the weather. Designed with flow and function in mind, the setup by Open Aire Affairs made it easy for everyone to stay present and focused on the ceremony itself.

With minimal décor, the attention stayed right where Rebecca and Ken wanted it — on the moment they were sharing. As Rebecca walked down the aisle, the joy was unmistakable. The ceremony felt personal, relaxed, and unforced, marking the beginning of a celebration that unfolded in its own unique way.
The Wedding Chop & Personal Details

One of the most talked-about moments of the day came shortly after the ceremony — a planned surprise Rebecca had been waiting all day to reveal! While Ken knew a dress change was coming, he had no idea that a fresh haircut was also part of the plan.
This moment is part of what’s become known as the “wedding chop” — a planned haircut between the ceremony and reception — a trend that’s been gaining attention in the wedding world. Ken’s reaction was pure shock, laughter, and disbelief, and the moment instantly became one of the most memorable highlights of the entire day!!!

Another personal detail that quietly stood out was the handcrafted bookshelf Ken built himself, which doubled as the seating chart. Each book guided guests to their table assignment — a thoughtful, hands-on element that reflected the couple’s preference for meaningful touches over excess décor. It was practical, personal, and a perfect fit for the tone of the day.
Reception & Celebration

As the celebration moved into the reception, Joshua’s Catering stepped in and truly brought everything together. Jenn, the coordinator, guided the remainder of the day with ease, ensuring everything flowed smoothly while keeping the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. Her team was attentive, upbeat, and fully engaged — even joining Rebecca, Ken, and their guests on the dance floor as the night unfolded!
With the foundation set, the energy of the evening really came alive thanks to Sir Charles Entertainment. Between DJ services and the photo booth, Charles and his family-run team brought incredible momentum to the reception.

One of the most exciting moments of the night was the Hora dance, a traditional Jewish wedding celebration where guests form a circle and lift the newlyweds on chairs, symbolizing support, joy, and community. High-energy and impossible to ignore, the Hora had everyone fully engaged — cheering, laughing, and celebrating together in a way that transformed the room all at once!
Closing Thoughts
Rebecca and Ken’s Ridgeland Mansion wedding is a reminder that meaningful celebrations don’t all look the same — and they don’t have to. This day wasn’t about elaborate styling or perfectly choreographed moments. It was about intention, personality, surprise, and creating a wedding experience that felt true to who they are.
